Montacute Opens its Village Gardens in June

Date: Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 June Time: 11am to 4pm Location: Montacute village, Somerset, TA15 6UZ

More than 20 Montacute village gardens will be opening to visitors in June offering visitors a rare glimpse behind the Hamstone walls of this south Somerset village. With plots ranging from community allotments to traditional cottage gardens, country house style garden 'rooms' and courtyard gardens, there will be something to inspire everyone.

Taking place on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 June, entry is £10 for both days, £8 for a single day.

Tea and cake available in the village hall, plant sales by CB Plants and a special ploughman's lunch offer at both village pubs plus 'open doors' at the 200-year-old Baptist chapel, and displays at St Catherine's Church by All Saints Primary School mean there will be plenty to do and see. '

There's such an amazing variety of gardens in our village, most of them tucked away behind houses and not visible from the road,' says Jan Lomas, chair of the Montacute Gardening Club, organisers of the event. 'It's wonderful so many residents have come together to share the joy of gardening and help raise funds for village causes.'

Most gardens are accessible, children welcome, no dogs except assistance. Signed parking available in the village, tickets on sale outside St Catherine's Church, TA15 6UZ. Gates open at 11am.
